And from the forward set of tees, the course play 5,150 yards and carries a slope rating of 124, which is average in the province for the forward tees.
The Course
The inspiration behind the design of Carnmoney's layout goes back many years and across thousands of miles to the traditional British golf links. The term "links" generally refers to British golf courses situated on sandy dunes created along the coast by a receding ocean. An unqualified success, the dream of modern inland links has been expertly realized by the renowned and talented designer, Les Furber. Natural rolling hills and valley troughs have been intelligently utilized to give every hole on our 160-acre site the wind-swept, rugged appearance of a top-notch British course. These contours accentuate a rolling dunes effect through the use of pot bunkers, sand ridges, and sand waste areas. The resulting landscape resembles golf course features created over time by the forces of nature.
Furber has given golfers the ultimate prize: variety. Every round seems to offer up new differences and challenges. Holes run in every direction and the whole course is eminently walkable, thanks to subtle elevation changes. Throughout the rugged landscape, from tee to green, stretch calm ribbons of fairway. The playability of the golf course is found on level fairways between high dunes and water, with waste bunkers scattered in strategic locations.
Four sets of tees on every home allow players of all skill levels and abilities to participate at the level which best suits their game. Well-contoured greens protected by numerous bunders and water hazards are designed to reward good shot making and provide artistic eye appeal to all golfers.
There is a total of 17 acres of lake area interconnected and flowing through the property over waterfalls. Fountains are used to create strategic playability on each nine holes, which are balanced in character and length. The golf course is an 18-hole, par 72 championship course, rated 73.6 from the back tees.
The finishing holes on each nine are very strong and the entire layout creates a tremendous magnetism and prestige suited to our very sophisticated and demanding membership.
Three top designers have rated the course no less than 9.5 out of a possible 10.
